What is Weverse?
Weverse is an official global platform for the fans & artists around the world.
Why redesign Weverse?
This project a school HCI academic project which require to solve a problem which related to K-POP or BTS.

The reason of I choose and decided to redesign Weverse are:
Weverse bonded with K-PoP fans from around the world as a family, but the Weverse App's functions were not friendly and lacked empathy with the users. Besides, the Weverse community needs to be harmonious with to avoid the low bar of the user register policy.
How do current users think? (Research)
I conducted a 4 rounds of interview of the current users with 7 questions in 2 Categories - user behaviors & usability.

Redesign Solution 1 (Community Security)
Another popular official K-pop fans club APP like Daum Cafe would allow the official fan club to pass specific tests or activities to upgrade users' account levels and explore more exclusive content.

Take the BTS fans group as an example; fans were requested to take the official test and activity, which needed to earn perfect scores to update the account level on the fans club to view the members' posts and comments.
There are some benefits:

— Help users (fans) to build trust with each other.
— Avoid haters.
— More friendly community.

Which can help

1. Solve the user pain point - avoid haters to view, post and comment on the fan club community.
2. Build a better friendly environment.
Redesign Solution 2 (Notification Personalization)

Weverse sends users notifications when artists make new postings and new comments.

However, most of the time, when artist comment on user/fans post, the users in that artist fanclub will receive a long list of home notifications like this:

Based on user pain points, I came up with a solution function that adds user can have a personalization setting on the App system notification that only sends a one-time notification which can help reduce the user's cognitive load.

Redesign Solution 3 (Interface Personalization)

On the Weverse homepage, we can various artists and different groups of information that distract the user's attention and increase cognitive load.

According to the the user's need for a personalization experience, I change the homepage content which only focuses on the user's interested artists, which helps to reduce the users' cognitive load when using App.

Users Feedback (Usability Test & Success Metric)
I round a usability test with 5 users (3 current & 2 potential users), below are some of their comments:

" Nice job on this redesign! The features you redesigned are helpful and intuitive. "

User 1

" The notification personalization features are very helpful! No longer receive tons of notifications in one second. "

User 2

" Great redesign! I like the personalization idea on the homepage. "

User 3

Weverse Redesign Class Presentation Feedback
After finishing the design and usability test, I made a short 8 min presentation to the class and instructor. Here are some feedbacks on my personation:
Presentation Deck

" I really liked that you came up with the design ideas based on real user interview data! I think some of the ideas to help address certain concerns (e.g., implementing exames to increase the sense of safety) ."

Instructor

" I like how you introduce your re-design point-by-point, showing the users’ pain point with the original app first, then showing how you solve it with your re-design."

Peer 1

" I really liked how you interviewed people in order to see the flaws of Weverse. Within seeing the cons of Weverse and why many users do not like it, it really shows why a redesign is needed".

Peer 2

Reflection

This is my first personal project that do all the design process by myself. Personally, I am a 10+ years K-Pop fans that very interested in seeking to improve K-Pop fans experience through design.

Very much appreciated to interviewees who give me lost of helpful insight of the App, and the instructor Jin Ha Lee who gave me lots of insight and help me have clear idea how to identity the user pain points and with company business goal.

Design is never end, so if I have more time, I would think more and run test about if the fanclub level test might become a barrier for new fans to enter the community. So, I will come up with more solution to find the best one to solve the Weverse community security issue.
